Happy Tuesday, Cyclone Spin!
Exercise is a celebration of what your body can do so today we're celebrating our cores- the part of your body that holds all the important squishy bits together. Whether you're running, walking or chasing after your kids, your core provides you with stability and balance even if the rest of your life can feel out of whack. Training your core brings harmony to your pelvis, lower back, hips and abdomen. It's not (only) about building visible abs, it's about improving your functional fitness so you can help a friend move a couch or bend over to pet a cute dog without injury. Having a strong core can also be a preventative measure, protecting you and reducing the risk of neck injury, back pain, or slipped disks- just to name a few.
The good news is that whenever you're riding on that bike, you're working your core. Make sure to focus on your posture when you're riding- keep your core tight, back straight (I'm looking at all you desk workers), and shoulders and neck relaxed. If you're looking for an extra core burn, check out Kierra C's class- she always has a great core track up her sleeve!
